job costing

by parentg6 » Wed Jan 13, 2010 11:07 pm

Hello everybody,

as a general contractor, I'd like to know what,s the real cost of building each of my homes and buildings. I saw on the net that Nolapro developpers claims that the software can do job costing. I have absolutely no idea whatsoever how it can be dose as long as there is no menu or radio buttons to specify to which projet or lot the order or the PO is related to.

What's the trick to do accounting by project with Nolapro.

Hi again,

well, I expected an answer for my question and unfortunately, I'm still waiting. Isw it possible that Nolapro simply cannot deal with project cost management? I checked on video training and considered using cost center but I have to specifically assign a GL account to this specified cost center.

So, my new question: is it possible that Nolapro is not the tool that I really need? If not any other suggestions about ERP free system more tailored to general contractor requirements?

Thanks,

Hi, it's me again,

just one more question: what about using the Custom Fields add-on to add a new field called "Projects"? Is it possible to do this and then, create reports sorted by "projects" ?

NolaPro does not currently have a job costing module but we do plan on completing one sometime over the summer.

The Custom Field Add-On would not actually allow you to sort reports by that field. If you would like to try this add-on please go to our demo site at https://demo.nolapro.com/index.php and access this at Admin->Admin Setup->Custom Fields Editor.
